My old speedlight works with the digital SLR! The speedlight (Vivitar Auto Focus Illuminator) is at least more than 10 years old. I use it with my regular Nikon SLR and was trying it out last night with my xti. It was very dim in the bedroom. After a few tries with different shutter speeds, i finally got the lighting right. So here's the picture, the lighting looks pretty decent, but the dog looks a little annoying.
